Hello and Welcome,
Creating has always been part of my life. Since you’re reading this, I’m guessing you can likely say the same.
I’ve followed a lifelong passion for craft and design and. My journey took me to college, where I studied illustration and then fashion design—both deepening my love for combining color, texture, line, and form. These disciplines taught me to bring my visions to life in new and exciting ways, including designing the CaBezel Jewelry Molds and shaping how I approach every piece I create today. Over the years, I’ve explored many different materials, but what remains constant is my desire to make the everyday extraordinary.
My space, much like my art, is carefully curated. Every item I surround myself with brings me joy. It might be the color, texture, or shape of an item that brings a smile to my face. That’s what fuels my designs—finding beauty in the details that others might overlook. Things from nature like seed pods, feathers, and insect wings make my heart sing. I see beauty where others may not—in the rich patina of a rusty dumpster or the intricate lines of a worn texture—and I love bringing that inspiration into my work.
I’m also an avid thrifter, especially when it comes to linen. There’s something about its texture and natural beauty that I find irresistible. Whether it’s swapping out buttons, changing the shape, or even altering the color, giving an item a second life appeals to me. Designing my own jewelry using polymer clay (and sometimes steel) to complete the look feels like I’m closing the creative circle.
My jewelry is a reflection of this curated, thoughtful way of living—a blend of contrast and harmony, of boldness and subtlety. For me, life is about making the ordinary extraordinary and the simple, beautiful. Sometimes, all I need is a steaming cup of tea in my favorite mug to remind me of that. The more often we can slow down, the greater the reward.
Being the owner of Shades of Clay, I now have the privilege to meet many of my customers on-line on a daily basis. Margaret Scott began Shades of Clay back in 2002. I took hold of the reins in 2013 and I’ve never looked back!
SOC is still going strong after 20+ years!
I love what I do
