Shades of Clay – “ Love is in the Air”
At the beginning of January, I contemplated making New Year’s resolutions……. needless to say, I quickly got over that idea.
Instead I started thinking about the month of February.
So what is February all about?
Valentine’s Day is always in the forefront but it’s about family and friends too.
As an artist, we are often inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us. A good friend of mine recently retired and took up hiking. She often mentions her fascination with shapes that are found in nature.
This got us talking about finding hearts naturally occurring in nature. Apparently we weren’t the first who wondered this. Just Google Heart shapes in nature and you’ll see what I mean.
I was soon inspired to enter my workshop to create something new incorporating the heart.
I used the Amor CaBezel for all of the different pieces and I used the Susan Lenart Kazmer Relique powders added to the Ice Resin and also on some of the bases to get the mottled effect. The faces are created with the Best Flexible “Let’s Face It” mold.
I naturally gravitate to making jewelry but you could just as easily use the same techniques and ideas to create book covers, wall art or boxes.
I hope you get inspired to create something today and find some time to be with the people that you care about.
Happy Valentine’s Day.
